It is important to ensure growth and increase capacity in the Kurzeme region, produce the products with high added value. On December 29th, 2009 at Ventspils University College was held a seminar "Science for business". In the seminar took part representatives from Ventspils University College, Research institutions of Ventspils University College, Ventspils city council and Ventspils High Technology Park.

There was interconnection network Protolab official opening on 17th of December at 2 p.m. in Ventspils High Technology Park.
Protolab Network is a cross border interconnection network, which was established by Estonia-Latvia cross border interconnection programme project "Protolab Network". Protolab Network involves three main partners - Tartu Science Park (TSP), Ogre Business and Innovation Incubator (OBII) and Engineering Research Centre of Ventspils University College (VERC).
